Start with the peak of tulip season, add 75 degree, blue-sky weather, and throw ina dash of spring break. What do you get? A train wreck of a visit to Mt. Vernon, Washington, to visit their tulip festival.

It started out fine. We spent the night in Mt. Vernon so we could get to the tulips early. The first farm we visited wasn’t crowded at all. That’s where Itook these photos:

Happy wife … :-)

Rows of different colored tulips. I don’t have Ann or Daniel’s photos downloaded just yet, but I’ll post them Saturday morning.

Despite their beauty, I asked myself multiple times, What was I doing here??? Because, as soon as I saw a single tulip, I was done. Okay, been there, done that, pretty flower and all …. now let’s move on. But, I knew my darling and patient wife wanted to see the tulips, so I bravely marched along with her, showing off my sherpa skills as I carried two of three cameras she had with her. When we finished with the field, we left for a second destination.

By then it was11:00 am and half of Seattle had descended into the Mt. Vernon valley. Parents were letting their kids run into the tulip rows (a no-no posted all over). Adults also wandered into the fields and, after someone told them to get out, they’d go back into them! At one point we got stuck in a traffic jam on the way to “Tulip Town“, only to learn that it was closed (full up). These people really were maniacs, suggesting little has changed since the tulip economic bubble of the 1630s.

Afterthe hordes descended, Ann, Daniel and I were all done with tulips and we left in a rush.

We dropto Anacortes, thenbooked it for home, with a stop in Leavenworth where I had some pork and spaeztles.

PROST!

We didn’t arrive until late tonight, so no updates until Saturday morning.

UPDATE: Guy found a Youtube of Stevie Coyle’s Stairway to Gilligan:

Original post: Ann and I and her son Daniel joined my aunt and her beau for the 2016 Moisture Festival in Ballard (northern Seattle). The vaudeville celebration is always fun. Among the magic, juggling, comedy, and acrobatic acts my favorite was Stevie Coyle, a guy from San Francisco who played Stairway to Heaven on an acoustic guitar, but managed to sing the lyrics to Gilligan’s Island at the same time (A little research on Google showed this combination was first done by Little Roger & the Goosebumps in the 70s, but Coyle’s isfar better). It was an unforgettable comic blend that worked surprisingly well!

So, no updates Today. Meanwhile, todaywe will be tiptoeing through Mt. Vernon’s tulip festival. This will make my wife very happy 🙂

In line at the Moisture Festival next to Hale’s Brewery in Ballard.

After the Festival and on our way out of Seattle we spotted this mural near Dick’s Drive-in on 45th in Seattle. Of course, I had to join them. My wife got creative with the extra images.

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $475.

Glenn spotted this trailer. Maybe it is a Converto Civilian Trailer?

“Post WWII jeep trailer. Similar to Bantam TC-3 (BT3-C) type trailer, but can’t confirm make/model. In excellent condition; has been garage kept throughout its lifetime. Body is solid and ready to haul (shows only very minor surface rust).

New tires purchased and bearings were re-packed to transport trailer from Chicago to Burnsville. Temporary wiring/lights installed, but likely needs work to be functional. Will need little work to get back on the road.

Call to make an appointment to come see. Would like to see someone looking for a nice jeep trailer to put this to good use!!

NOTE: estimated to be around 1945 model year; BT3-C is indicated as make/model as trailer is similar. No title for trailer exists.”

Note the largebox under the front bumper. Hard to go offered with that.

“Great little Jeep, runs and drives good, no brakes. New carb. Also have a new brake master cylinder to install. The tires have good tread but are dry. One will leak down in a few days. It needs a battery to run and I use an electric fuel pump and a boat gas tank. I have the original gas tank, it is in good condition but needs to be cleaned out. The Jeep has a little rust and some body damage.”

No pics provided. Seller is quoting NADA, so he may be hoping for more than he can get.

“1960 CJ6 for sale. This is a jeep I had every intention to have restored but after a year I still haven’t had a chance to really mess around with this or check around to see what the cost to restore it is. It does run but will need a good tuneup, currently it will run briefly and shut down due to I believe a busted air hose. It will need in my opinion a new brake system all the way around. I was told it has a small leak in the front axle. It will need a little body work. The front floor boards have a few small holes but the floor is sturdy. The back floor is going to need to be replaced, after I got it home and really started looking at it also appears one of the back floor cross braces will need to be replaced. The windshield frame has a good amount of rust. The knobs for the choke, governor, etc… need some work meaning they are very difficult to pull out. Also the previous owner installed a plastic gas tank with a universal pump. The NADA Guides classic car retail for this vehicle mechanically functional is 4525, avg retail 11,400, and high retail 21,800. I’m open to offers, the only reason I mention the NADA prices is if you restore jeeps you could probably make a good profit. I can send photos if needed. Thanks.”

UPDATE: Still Available.

(02/02/2016)“This Willys is a true survivor. The id number is a MB number, but is considered a 1947 by the DMV. The tub is a MB. The jeep was modified for a film to look like a M38. The driver side has been smoothed over with bondo at some point, but the ribs for the tools can be seen on the inside. The window is post war as well as the M38 grille. The jeep will need to be seen.
It needs tlc for sure but is a driver.
I have the window rubber, just no glass.
The engine is what I can best figure is a 1953 F-Head Hurricane engine. It has the generator, but is wound to a 12v system.
It has Model A tail lights with the bezels painted green since the pics were taken.
The tires are new as of July 22nd. I also had Willys hand painted on the rear tailgate, as well as a personal tribute to a fallen family member, as well as a WWII Kilroy was here.
I am also having the rims painted green this week.
I am fixing it up as I keep driving it. If it doesn’t sell for my price, I will be fixing it up and keeping it.
The footlocker doesn’t go with the jeep. ”
