Madrid Barajas T4S "short connection" kiosk?

Can someone please provide info on the short connection kiosk at Madrid Barajas T4S? Location, function, photos, value?

I have seen posts that mention the kiosk, but no clear info. I booked a flight for friends on Qatar into MAD, with a short connection (1h15m) on an Iberia flight in T4, and we are both worried that lines at passport control will cause them miss the connection.

On the same ticket? If not, checked luggage or HBO? EU or non-EU passports?

If on a single ticket they at least won't be clearing passport control with everyone else, which will probably be most of the plane, if they're staying airside and not going landside.

I've seen staff meet passengers with short connections at the arrival gate but haven't heard of a kiosk.

If it exists I'd be interested in knowing the purpose and benefits of it.

Short connection kiosk? Never heard of it. And from my experience of Spanish airport queues, there is zero chance that people waiting would allow somebody claiming a "short connection" to jump the queue.

The only option would be talking to the airport staff helping manage the passport control queues and see whether they determine the connection to be so tight that the people in question are escorted to the front of the queue.

I am not aware of any short connection kiosk, neither is mentioned in AENA's website or Iberia's website.

Also, I am not sure how a "kiosk" will help in a connection - with a non-EU passport you have to go through manual processing (e-gates are only for EU citizens in Spain) and you have to go through transit security.

I agree that a kiosk sounds dubious, which is why I am asking. I suspect that its for EU ppt holders anyway, if it exists at all.

How about a "short connection" pass or passport line? I noticed this on a BKK-HEL flight recently. We were about 30 mins late, and pax were met at the end of the jetway with a sign with their name, and handed a short connection pass which allowed using the short connection line at passport control (I think) and security. I know Helsinki is tiny compared to Barajas, but am hoping that Barajas offers similar assistance.

There is supposed to be a "fast connection" line, at least at T4S arrivals (see blue sign on the right). Whether it works or it is actually fast - remains to be seen. Specially with a lot of people actually trying to use it because they have a short connection.

Was there a few weeks ago. While no kiosk, to the right of the regular line is a section where those with close connections can show their tickets and
sometimes are let in depending who's monitoring it. We had a similar connection to you and were turned away from that line. The attendant said we'd get thru the regular line
similar to the one in the above picture in 10 minutes. 20 minutes in we were mid line. Felt bad for a man by us with a bad leg. We had to pretty much beg the
attendant to let him get in that line. Another 10 minutes later and a woman running that line let people in, including us. We made our flight but only by being able to after 30 minutes
get in that line. Still took another 15 minutes to get thru customs. Was very stressful running to connect. Will not do that again. We thought we were fine as we arrived before 6AM for a 7:55 connection but never again. Not worth the stress.

For passport control, there's no such thing as a short connection line. However, after doing the T4S > T4 transit you have to pass through security again, for that you do have a Short Connection security line on the right side of the boarding pass gates.

I only got it once in 2012 with a 45-minute connection LCG>MAD>JFK in Madrid.

Never ever seen it again, and I have made 55 minute connections ofter T4>T4S and T4S>T4 in the last months.

Now that I know what it is called - "express connection" pass or card - I was able to find old postings about it on FT and Tripadvisor with explanations and a 2024 FT post with photos.

And now I recall being handed one in HKG years ago on an AA-CX connection (shockingly, the AA flight was late!). Its part of OW's Global Travel Support services.

Am also curious to know if anyone has seen these at MAD.
